Thick, Sturdy, Well Built - Love Them September 5, 2010

After a few flats with cheap Wal-mart tubes I finally decided to order something online and purchased a few boxes of these after reading positive reviews.
Immediately after taking them out of the box I understood why people liked them; they are thick material, sturdy and well formed/built. They might weigh a few ounces more than a cheap Wal-mart tube but they ride great and I feel a lot more confident on my rides and am not as worried about pinch flats or cactus bits poking me to a stop at every other corner.
It is hard to review a tube well, all you can really provide other riders is some indication of if you liked it and if you would buy it again/trust it -- and the answer to both of those is "yes" from me.

The air stems are different from what I'm used to. They're about 5mm shorter, and have no thumbnut or threads leading down to the rim. On my not terribly deep rims, I am finding that my usual air pump can't really get all the way on, so its hard to fill these. My Schrader adaptor also has problems. Be that as it may, I paid for these, so I intend to suffer with them until they break. Next time, I'll spend the dollar or two extra and get 45mm ones with the rim threads and thumbnut.

I've put several hundred miles on the tubes and they work great. I bought a bunch of these at the same time to save on shipping. Will definitely buy bunches more for the holiday season.

Pump's head comes off the smooth valve much easier than off the normal threaded valve. It's a small thing but I found it very pleasant to use.
I also used Maxxis' and Continental's tubes. In your hand, Maxxis feels the flimsiest, Michelin is in the middle, and Continental feels the toughest. However, I didn't notice any difference in reliability while commuting 100 miles per week. Nearly all failures were punctures by external objects, which would probably puncture any tube. Even if one of these is more reliable than the other, folks like me would probably not be able to tell.
But threadless valves are way cool!

I was very surprised at the quality of these tubes in comparison to others I have used. I always assumed a tube was a tube. Well these tubes hold air very well, the presta valve seems to be more precise than the others and the butyl rubber seems to be more supple and have a different look and feel in comparison. Additionally, these tubes seem to be competively priced.
